Simple things make a difference. In soccer, two of the most important elements of successful offense require neither skill nor tactical sophistication--staying spread out and having good vision. There is nothing as simple, yet more important, to the success of a soccer team than good vision. By vision we mean the personal habit of constantly scrutinizing the soccer field to get the big picture.

Soccer players should look over the entire field approximately every five seconds. How do we develop players with vision? First, we develop players' skill. A player that is a slave to the ball can't be looking around the field. The habit of looking before the ball is received should be encouraged. Players should become very familiar with the phrase: "DON'T BE A BALL WATCHER!"
